Goldfish Constipation

constipation

Constipation in goldfish would more accurately fall into the category of physiological conditions, rather than goldfish diseases. Easily detected and cured, it is caused by poor diet, or normally substandard water being brought up to scratch.

Apart from the obvious signs of having a distended belly and not being able to defeacate, a goldfish suffering from constipation may constantly follow behind another fish.

To cure goldfish constipation, feed them peas, spinach, live feed, pre-soaked flakes or a grain of epsom salts. To prevent recurrence provide variation in the goldfish's diet.
